June 2010 Update
Llanelly House team are proud to support the forthcoming Llanelli Festival in August 2010. Much work has been undertaken by Benita Afan Rees, who is not only the Events co-ordinator for this event but is also an active volunteer for the Llanelly House project. One very busy lady! If you would like to contribute to the event or your organisation would like to participate please contact either myself at estelle.evans@chrt.org.uk or Benita at benitaafan@aol.com
- The event is gaining momentum with 67 organisations reserving floor space.
- A number of organisations have donated raffle prizes to help with fund-raising for the event. Prince Charles has sent his good wishes and donated a 60th Birthday Commemorative Plate one of only 1,000 produced. Ours is No 101. Encourage all your family and friends to come along, buy a raffle ticket and have a chance to win this beautifully decorated plate in a presentation box.
- Any profits from the raffles will be held by the Llanelli Historical Society for future events. For information contact the society’s treasurer John Williams MBE, telephone 01554 810677.
- The County Council is planning activities outside the Selwyn Samuel Centre to compliment the Festival and any enquiries should be directed to Ron Cant, Press Officer, Regeneration, Engineering and Highways, MCP, PCP and Leisure services, County Hall, Carmarthen, SA31 1JP Tel: 01267 224923.
- Sincere thanks are extended to everyone who has agreed to take part in this special event and to those who have agreed to sponsor the event and offered financial or practical assistance.
- The event has the full backing of the County, Town and Rural Councils.
- www.llanellitown.com Llanellitown.com has kindly agreed to sponsor the event and will be our media sponsors.
- There will be plenty to entertain participants and visitors on the day.
- Each participating group will be responsible for their own area, keeping tidy, clean etc., and removing any rubbish or waste at the end of the day.
- Arrangements have been made for the hall to be opened the evening before from 6.00 pm until 8.00 pm for displays and tables to be set up to avoid a crush on the day.
- The centre will open at 9.30 a.m. to allow setting up of tables etc. The Official opening will be at 11.00 a.m. and the event will finish between 4.00p.m. and 5.00 p.m. depending on the visitors.
- The Selwyn Samuel Caterers, S and J Catering, will be able to offer refreshments for participants and visitors throughout the day.
I am confident this event will be a day to remember - thank you for your support.
